Make a list
If you’re not quite the organiser, you’re probably not a big fan of lists. You’d rather just stand in front of your closet and throw whatever pleases you at that moment in your suitcase. But this leads to overpacking. Something which is completely unnecessary. I mean, why would you do that?
So, here’s what you’re going to do. You’re going to make a list of items you need. Take into consideration the days of stay and temperature. You only need to grab one comfortable half zip sweater for men (Dutch: schipperstrui heren) for the flight because it might get cold. But once you arrive at your holiday destination at thirty-somewhat-degrees, you’re not going to see the sweater again until you’re on your plane ride home. As well as packing fifteen T-shirts for an eight day holiday. Are you aware that you can wear basics over and over again? And no one will even notice. So, make a list and ask yourself the question “Do I really need this?”. We’re sure your packing skills will get better.

Roll and stuff
You have all your items sorted. Now it’s time for the actual packing. You’ve probably seen it before but it’s time you give it a try. Roll up your clothing instead of folding. Why? Well, because it saves a lot of space and your clothes will get less wrinkled. So why not try it out? This is a studied method according to the army. Also, if you have some woollen socks for men (Dutch: wollen sokken heren) which you want to bring, put them into your shoes. Otherwise, this space would not get used, which is a shame.

Travel size cosmetics
The temptation is big, bringing all your big tubes and jars of skincare, shampoo, conditioner and many more. However, you should be wise and bring travel size cosmetics, you’re really not going to use a whole bottle of shampoo over one week. You can easily buy smaller flasks in which you can put your products. This will not only save you room, but also weight. And if you put it in a flask below 50ml, you can even carry it in your handbag through security.
